Justin Bieber took to the stage in Las Vegas on Sunday night (May 20) for the Billboard Music Awards 2012 to give an energetic performance of his latest hit 'Boyfriend'. The Canadian pop sensation, who spent over 40 weeks at number one on Billboard magazine's Social 50 chart, won the evening’s first trophy. He took home the award for best social artist for the second consecutive year. Justin Bieber beat out Rihanna, Eminem, Lady GaGa, and Shakira to pick up the prize. The teenage pop superstar has dominated the Billboard’s Social 50 chart since its inception in late 2010.

Sporting a grey and black hooded jacket overtop a white shirt with dark wash jeans and white sneakers, the “Never Say Never” heartthrob brought his urban look to the Billboard Music Awards white carpet.
Justin was the night's first winner, picking up the Social Artist of the Year prize for his huge online presence.
Thanking his 22 million Twitter followers and 43 million Facebook fans, he said, "The Internet is where I got my start and all my fans have helped me get to this position."
The 18-year-old singer also thanked Usher for his hands-on role as a mentor and gave a special shout-out to Braun, who discovered Bieber on YouTube and helped him earn a record deal. “I want to thank my boy Scooter Braun for all he's done. He's more than just a manager to me,” Bieber said. “He helps me get through every day. He’s always a positive role model.” Finally, he thanked his mom, his dad, and God for the win.
Just minutes after his mentor Usher took the stage at the MGM Grand Garden Arena, Bieber got the room shaking with an energetic performance of his latest hit, "Boyfriend."
The “Baby” hitmaker brought out the swag as he moved down to the main stage and joined by some scantily clad lady dancers.
Justin Bieber took Virginia high school student Cady Eimer as his date to the 2012 Billboard Music Awards on Sunday.
